When you register for our services or place orders through our website, we may need to know your name, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number, credit card number and expiry date, details of any student courses on which you are registered. We also may need to know similar details about your employer if you are acting on their behalf.

We gather this information to allow us to process your registration as a member of OPERC, process any orders you may make, monitor your use of the HAVTEC register and other areas of our site, and process your registration and monitor your use of other OPERC products and services such as OPERC-Safetynet and the OPERC Life-long Learning zone. The relevant information is then used by us, our agents and sub-contractors to provide you with details of products and services that may be of interest to you, to announce new initiatives or ventures, process any orders you may place on our site, provide you with statements of your account and notify you of any changes that are made to any of our products and services and to communicate with you on any matter relating to the conduct of your account and the provision of our services in general.

We may also use aggregate information and statistics for the purposes of monitoring website usage in order to help us develop the website and our services and may provide such aggregate information to third parties. These statistics will not include information that can be used to identify any individual.

From time to time we may provide your information to our customer service agencies for research and analysis purposes so that we can monitor and improve the services that we provide. 2 Our use of cookies and other information gathering technologies

In some instances the OPERC web site may use cookies or session variable. A 'cookie' is a piece of information, which some websites create against your PC whereas 'Session Variables' function like cookies but better preserves the visitors privacy. The 'cookies' and 'Session Variables' OPERC use log your progress through the site and to record how you accessed the site. They do not collect any personal information about you or about the use of your PC or Internet browsing in any way. If you do not want cookies or session variables to be created on your PC, then your web browser (e.g. Internet Explorer) will provide an option to disable them. Consideration should however be given to the fact that some personalised services on the OPERC website may not be available if you choose to disable cookies.

3 How we protect your information

The internet is not a secure medium. However we have put in place various security procedures as set out in this policy. The OPERC server is protected with a Firewall and all on-line financial transactions for purchases are dealt with through Barclays Bank who provide Secure Socket Layers (SSLs). We also ensure that all members are given a password to access information held about themselves and any products, services and/or facilities offered by OPERC.

We also keep your information confidential. The internal procedures of OPERC cover the storage, access and disclosure of your information.

4 Transfer of business

If this business is transferred to another party your details may be disclosed to our advisers and any prospective transferees and their advisers and will be passed on to the new owners of the business.

5 Updating your details
