Mr Richard Sharp, Management Consultant, Sharp Practice

Richard Sharp was formerly the economist for JCB Sales at their world headquarters but now offers his skills through his own consultancy practice known as Sharp Practice. Richard is widely considered as one of the world’s leading authorities in this field and his general knowledge of economic history is fascinating.

• Chairman of CECE Economics Commission
• Chief Executive of OPERC
• Member of CECE Statistical Planning Committee
• Member of AEM Statistical Planning Committee

Potted history:

• Joined JCB in 1983 as Senior Market Analyst.
• Involvement with FMCEC/CEA/CECE from 1983 onwards on Statistical, Commercial and International Trade matters.
• Represented the European Industry on Commercial and Trade matters with the European Union/European Commission and externally to Europe.
• Joined Samsung Heavy Industry Europe in 1997 as Senior Manager Marketing (JCB speak for Director) with responsibilities for Marketing, Sales and Service with territory responsibility for Europe East and West and Africa.
• Rejoined JCB in 1998, upon the announced closure of the S.H.I. factory in the UK, as JCB's Company Economist.

Previous life:-
Finance manager for an office equipment manufacturer which was part of the Vickers Group 1975 to 1983.
Graduated in Economics in 1974, sabbatical President of the Students Union, Wolverhampton, 1974/5.

Richard was OPERC President 2007-2008.
