Dr John Dews,
BSc(Hons), MSc, PhD, CCHEM, MRSC
Dr John Dews is a graduate of the
Universities of Wales (BSc), Bristol (MSc) and Wolverhampton
(PhD). Before entering
academia, he was employed for almost ten years in the construction
industry by Tarmac plc, working in a variety of posts ranging from
Research and Development to Marketing and Financial appraisal and
gaining a doctorate for his work on an industrially based
construction materials project.. Whilst working in industry
he taught part time in both the Further Education sector and with
the Open University as a Tutor-Counsellor. In 1977, he joined the
academic staff of the Polytechnic, Wolverhampton – now the
University – as a Lecturer in Construction Science. He supervised several MSc
and PhD students and has authored and co-authored about twenty papers in
construction journals.
He was promoted to Senior Lecturer and then to Principal
Lecturer before joining the staff of Dudley College of Technology in
2001 as course tutor of their Higher Education construction awards
portfolio. He left the
college in January 2004, to concentrate on freelance lecturing and
training and to develop consultancy work in the education
field. |
