The key to any successful business is service...

So says Michael O’Donovan, Managing Director of Kayleigh Plant Hire

Kayleigh Plant Hire, of Tottenham North London, takes delivery of fourteen Volvo compact excavators and one fourteen tonne EC140C crawler excavator from Volvo Construction Equipment.

"We pride ourselves in offering our customers a first class service and we expect the same from our suppliers," continued Mr O'Donovan. "We've had a good relationship with Volvo CE since we purchased a BL71 backhoe three years ago, so when it came time to replace some of our older compact equipment we decided to opt for the latest Volvo equipment." And the machines in question are five ECR88 Plus' (eight point eight tonnes); seven of the recently introduced five tonne ECR48C's; two EC25's (two and a half tonnes) compact models together with the larger fourteen tonne EC140C. These are the first Volvo excavators to join Kayleigh's fleet which totals approximately 100 units.

As with all Volvo construction equipment, the compact excavator line develops impressive levels of performance and technological advances. This includes a variable flow power control hydraulic system for precise control under all load conditions and safety features such as Roll Over Protection Structure (ROPS), Tip Over Protection Structure (TOPS) and Falling Objects protection Structure (FOPS) contribute to outstanding operator safety. Specifically for Kayleigh Plant Hire Ltd the ECR88 Plus and ECR48C models, both of which are reduced swing radius machines, will prove to be popular sizes for their customers since they offer a high degree of manoeuvrability in confined spaces, particularly near walls and nearby traffic in urban jobsites. Powered by Volvo low emission engines the machines develop impressive levels of performance thanks to the matching of the engine with a closed centre load sensing hydraulic system. Automatic two speed travel is a feature on the ECR88 Plus enabling the machine to shift from high travel speed into low according to the load and terrain.

Launched at this year's SED the new EC140C completes the line up of Volvo's C series crawler and wheeled excavators all featuring Tier III low emission engines. The installed power of the 4 cylinder engine found on the EC140C is 94hp which contributes to an excellent performance being well matched to the machine's hydraulics. The machine's 'Integrated work mode control' provides high efficiency, rapid dig cycles and low fuel consumption. This advanced mode control system ensures the maximum possible hydraulic horsepower available is delivered at a constant engine speed under varying load conditions. In addition, boom and arm geometry provide highly competitive digging forces and lifting capacities, which makes for faster work cycles. Hose rupture valves are fitted as standard to the boom and dipper cylinders as are quick fit hydraulics and a hammer/shear service.

Kayleigh Plant Hire Ltd was established in 1993 to complement the main activities of the O'Donovan Group which specialises in waste recycling, waste disposal, material and aggregates recycling. The original business started back in the 1930's and today the Group is managed by the second generation of the O'Donovan family. Since moving into general plant, the Company has grown substantially offering both operated and non operated machines for hire throughout London and the south east of England.

Volvo Construction Equipment Ltd market wheeled loaders, articulated haulers, hydraulic excavators, graders, Volvo Compact Equipment and Volvo road machinery products. Nine strategically placed customer support centres and a network of compact equipment dealers ensure high quality customer support throughout Great Britain.
